What is COXAMIN and what is it used for?
COXAMIN is a unique product containing calcium, entirely plant-based. It is produced from calcified Red Algae – Lithothamnion Calcareum. They inhabit limited areas around the clean coasts of Southwest Ireland and Western Iceland. The life cycle of the algae is four to five years. During this relatively short period, they absorb a large amount of minerals from the sea. COXAMIN has a unique porous structure, similar to a honeycomb, which after primary hydration is transformed into a smooth one. It does not resemble the chalky, granular structure with which we usually associate the idea of a calcium product.
COXAMIN is the most absorbable calcium product. Calcium derived from Lithothamnion. Calcareu" is more efficiently absorbed than calcium in dairy products.
In COXAMIN, the content is divided between three polymorphic forms – calcite, aragonite (ortho-rhombic structure), vaterite (hexagonal structure). Calcium carbonate, for example, consists almost entirely of calcite – a rhomboid lattice form.
Structure of COXAMIN
Unique open porous structure; highly specific surface; non-astringent (non-sticky) taste after hydration; non-sandy, non-calcareous texture; high buffering capacity; easily forms emulsions; promotes the formation of p-crystals; non-hygroscopic; predominantly calcite physical structure;
COXAMIN is a multimineral material – it contains about 34% calcium, but is also rich in other essential minerals. It also contains Magnesium (2.5%), Boron, Copper, Manganese, Selenium, Zinc and many other trace elements and minerals. The magnesium minimum contributes to the good absorption of calcium by the body, and boron and zinc play an important role in the biovitality of the calcium source.
COXAMIN and osteoporosis
Bone density increases during childhood, adolescence, and for several years after that. New bone cells are constantly being formed and old ones are being broken down. Bones are usually at their densest and strongest around the age of 30. Osteoporosis (meaning „porous bone“) occurs when bone breaks down faster than new tissue is formed.
Osteoporosis is a "silent" disease. It develops slowly and unnoticed, and by the time back pain, loss of height, and curvature of the spine appear, the condition is already in a significantly advanced stage. To reduce the risk of osteoporosis in adulthood, prevention needs to start early.
Studies conducted after 8 weeks of COXAMIN and other calcium alternatives showed the following results: tricalcium phosphate had the lowest bone absorption – 33.75 %, followed by calcium carbonate – 36.8 %. COXAMIN had the highest absorption, respectively – 39.4% (Fig. I). In the study, Coxamin also showed the highest indicators in terms of mineral density, namely 122 % better than tricalcium phosphate and 13.6 % better than calcium carbonate (Fig. 2).
COXAMIN and arthrosis
Calcium in the body interacts with phosphorus. Vitamin D is responsible for their balance in the blood. Prolonged calcium deficiency leads to its replacement by strontium, since structurally they are similar. However, the molecular lattice of strontium is larger and this causes deformations on the bone surfaces – curvatures, spikes, seals. These, in turn, often lead to pain and stiffness in the joints.
A number of scientific studies have been conducted worldwide on the effect of natural calcium obtained from Lithothamnion Calcareum. Scientists from MARC Humanetics, Minnesota, USA, have unequivocally proven that with 12 weeks of COXAMIN administration, pain and stiffness are significantly reduced and joint mobility is increased. The effect of taking it is shown by a study that proves the increased activity of patients. Bone mineral density, proven by a knee joint scanner, increases. Signs of improvement were observed about five to six weeks after the start of the study.
COXAMIN and the nervous system
Only one percent of calcium is found in soft tissues, but if it is missing, the threshold of excitability, which depends on the serum level of ionized calcium, is lowered. Hypocalcemia leads to increased neuromuscular excitability and tetanic-like symptoms. Adults and children with calcium deficiency are restless, with emotional outbursts, causeless crying, and a tendency to depression.
COXAMIN and nutrition
As with other minerals, the body has an amazing system for keeping calcium levels in the blood and tissues at just the right levels. The first checkpoint is the intestines. If too much calcium is consumed or there is already enough ionized calcium in the blood, the intestines simply absorb less. If the body needs calcium, the intestines absorb more. Parathyroid hormone monitors all of this and keeps calcium levels at the right levels, and when needed, stimulates vitamin D to increase absorption.
Various factors influence how much of the calcium that enters the body actually reaches the blood.
INDICATIONS:
for osteoporosis (builds a stronger bone structure and slows bone loss after menopause);
with reduced joint mobility (helps strengthen joint surfaces and improves joint mobility);
for recovery after physical activity (reduces muscle fatigue and accelerates recovery);
improves the condition of the skin, hair, nails and has a positive effect on the nervous and cardiovascular systems;
provides calcium, magnesium, iron and other minerals and trace elements necessary during pregnancy. (To be taken after consulting a doctor);
in all conditions requiring increased intake of micro and macro elements Calcium (Ca), Magnesium (Mg), Phosphorus (P), Sulfur (S), Iron (Fe), Potassium (K), Manganese (Mn). Boron (B), Iodine (I), Zinc (Zn), Copper (Cu), Selenium (Se), Cobalt (Co) and others;
due to its plant origin, the product is suitable for vegetarians;
COXAMIN does not cause constipation, it is gentle on the gastric mucosa and kidney parenchyma.
