Ibutop gel is a painkiller and anti-inflammatory product for application to the skin. Ibutop gel is a painkiller and anti-inflammatory product for topical application in painful degenerative joint diseases (arthrosis), inflammatory rheumatic diseases of the musculoskeletal system, swelling and inflammation of the periarticular soft tissues (tendon ligament and joint capsules), myalgia, lumbago; in sports injuries and accidents, such as contusions, sprains, strains.
Application and dosage:
Ibutop gel is applied 3-4 times a day. Depending on the affected area, 4-10 cm of the gel is applied and rubbed carefully into the skin. This amount corresponds to 2-5 g of gel (respectively 100-250 g of ibuprofen). The maximum daily dose is up to 12 g of gel, corresponding to 600 g of ibuprofen. After applying the gel, it takes a few minutes for the gel to dry before clothing is put on. The penetration of the active substance through the skin can be enhanced by iontophoresis (a special form of electrotherapy). Ibutop gel should be applied to the cathode (negative pole). The current strength should be 0.1-0.5 mA per 5 cm2 of the electrode area and the duration of treatment about 15 minutes.
Duration of use: The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor. In most cases, application for 1-2 weeks is sufficient.

Do not use Ibutop gel in case of hypersensitivity to ibuprofen or other preparations with the same mechanism of action, as well as in case of hypersensitivity to any of the excipients. Ibutop gel should not be applied to open wounds and mucous membranes, in case of skin inflammations and infections such as eczema or inflammation of the mucous membrane. Ibutop gel is not recommended for the treatment of children under 14 years of age9 due to the lack of sufficient experience with the use of the product in this age group. Special warnings: If symptoms persist for more than 3 days after application of the product, please consult a doctor. In patients who suffer from asthma, hay fever, swelling of the nasal mucosa or COPD (especially associated with symptoms of hay fever) and in patients with hypersensitivity to analgesics and antirheumatic products, there is a higher risk of developing an asthma attack, Quincke's edema, or urticaria compared to other patients. In these patients, Ibutop gel should be applied with precautions and under direct medical supervision. This also applies to patients with hypersensitivity to other substances manifested by skin reactions, itching or urticaria. What you need to consider during pregnancy and breastfeeding During the last three months of pregnancy, Ibutop gel should not be applied for a long time and/or on large areas of skin. Due to the mechanism of action, side effects such as labor pain-suppressing effect, obstruction of the Botal duct before birth, the appearance of an increased tendency to bleed in the mother and child and an increased tendency to edema in the mother may occur. Small amounts of ibuprofen pass into breast milk. Therefore, Ibutop gel should not be applied for a long time to large areas of skin during the breastfeeding period. In order to avoid contact of the baby with the product, Ibutop gel should not be applied to the breasts during the breastfeeding period. Influence on the ability to drive and use machines: There is no data on the influence on the ability to drive and use machines. What side effects can Ibutop gel cause? In rare cases, erythema, itching, burning, exanthema with pustules and urticaria are observed. In rare cases, Ibutop gel may lead to hypersensitivity reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis). In extremely rare cases, bronchospasm may develop in predisposed patients. In cases of application of Ibutop gel for a long time and on large skin areas, the occurrence of adverse drug reactions affecting individual organs or the entire organism is not excluded, and which are generally possible after oral administration of ibuprofen-containing drugs, such as renal dysfunction and in very rare cases renal failure. In case of adverse drug reactions not described in this leaflet, please inform your doctor or pharmacist. In case the adverse drug reactions are more severe or prolonged, discontinue use and inform your doctor. Which other products affect the effect of Ibutop gel or may be affected by its use? When used correctly, interactions of Ibutop gel with other medicinal products have not been established. Please inform your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken other medicines.
