Glucose Monohydrate is powdered glucose, which is a monosaccharide that cells use as an energy source and an intermediary in metabolism. Glucose Monohydrate is one of the main products of photosynthesis and is broken down during cellular respiration in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes - a process in which energy is released. It is used for the diagnosis of diabetes - glucose tolerance test. Available in a 75g package.
GLUCOSE is one of the most important carbohydrates in biochemistry and is used for one of the most common methods for diagnosing diabetes – the glucose tolerance test. Cells use it as a source of energy and an intermediary in metabolic processes. Glucose is one of the main products of photosynthesis and is broken down during cellular respiration in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes in the process of energy release.
Dosage and administration:
Before taking blood for blood sugar, 75 grams of glucose powder is dissolved in about 300 ml. water, by carefully mixing until completely dissolved. Then, fasting blood is taken, and the tube is labeled with the time of blood collection and marked 0 minute (i.e. fasting). The patient drinks the dissolved glucose. GLUCOSE monohydrate should be drunk within no more than 5 minutes (it is best to drink it all at once or a maximum of 2-3 times). The subsequent blood sugar test is at the 60th and 120th minutes after drinking the solution. Each tube is labeled with the corresponding minute. The test is performed as prescribed by the attending physician and, upon request, can last up to 180 and/or 240 minutes (3-4 hours after drinking the glucose).
